2023 in Review: Part 1

We kicked off 2024 by looking back at 2023. Why? Because there’s value in the data! Whether you’re a “numbers person” or not, we think you’ll find this information interesting and insightful. Maybe these numbers will help validate what you’re already doing, or maybe they’ll inspire you to try something new. Regardless, we want you to have them so you can make informed decisions for your businesses and your clients. What we’re saying is, the main reason we looked back at 2023 is to create more value for YOU!

Part 1 of this retrospective blog series is all about galleries.

1) First, we looked at the number of galleries created per month. We see a steady increase in gallery creation volume throughout the year, peaking in October and November. This peak is just in time for the holiday rush. As for the slight dip in the summer months, we hope that’s all of you taking a little, well-deserved vacation time!

Takeaway - Create your galleries early and leave yourself plenty of time during the holidays to generate and fulfill orders. We recommend running sales throughout November and December. So, when you can, make sure your galleries are prepped and live well before the holiday rush. Then, let our automated marketing features take care of the rest.

2) Have you ever wondered which gallery types have the highest number of unique visitors? Or how many images (on average) galleries typically have? Answers to these questions and more can be found below!

Takeaway - Now you don't have to wonder how many images other photographers are uploading to their galleries. There's no magic number that we've found (yet!), but you can use this information as a point of comparison.

If you like these numbers, you’re in luck— we’re just getting started! In parts 2 and 3 of this blog series, we’ll deep dive into storefront and product performance, as well as labs and order fulfillment. We’ll also continue to offer takeaways about what these 2023 numbers could mean for you in 2024.

Are there other numbers you’d like to see? Just ask!
